This 4-day Rwanda-Uganda safari holiday includes a visit to one of Africa’s deepest lakes. Lake Bunyonyi is located in southwestern Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale, close to the Rwanda border. Here you can fully unwind and enjoy peaceful canoe rides while taking in views of the surrounding islands. Optional activities include visiting the Batwa pygmies, community excursions, and bird-watching tours.
The trip also takes you to the renowned Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will experience exciting game drives, a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, and chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge, along with opportunities to see other primates.
This is a private tour, meaning you will travel in your own 4x4 Land Cruiser jeep with a dedicated private guide throughout the safari.
On arrival at Kigali International Airport (6am in the morning), our dedicated team of Hermosa Life Tours and Travel will be at the Kigali International airport for the meet and greet assistance, clear with customs, brief you about the tour before beginning the long drive to Uganda side. Alternatively, if you are already in Kigali, meet our guide then start off, cross via Cyanika border. The journey takes about -/+ 4 hours and you need to set off early in order to reach in time to rest before the next day’s activities. The journey is a bit long but very eventful as you will get to see the beautiful countryside and landscapes of both Uganda and Rwanda. Lunch will be taken along the way. Arrival with check in and relaxation enjoying lodge /hotel amenities. You will go for a canoe ride and island hopping as you watch the local fishermen carrying out their activities. You could also visit the punishment island. This is where young girls who had conceived before wedlock were abandoned to die. Most were rescued by men who couldn’t afford bride price. Other optional activities nearby the lake include swimming, nature walks, cultural visits and simple relaxation. Evening at leisure. Dinner and rest.
Overnight stay at Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort (Meal plan: Bed and breakfast).
Wake up to a relaxed breakfast and short visit to the Batwa community. The Batwa are a local Pygmy tribe that is located on the top of the hill near the end of Lake Bunyonyi. You will first have a relaxing boat trip and a short hike (around 20 minutes) then you will arrive at the tribe. They will greet you happily then take you through their ways of life. They will perform for you their cultural dance, buy some stuff in their craft shops. Later depart. Check out and get on another drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, this park is one of the most visited parks known for having diversity of wildlife including the tree climbing lions of the Ishasha sector the Southern area of the park. You may have your lunch along the way. Continue to enter the park with some evening game drives. Arrival at the lodge/hotel with a warm welcome and check in, relax as you enjoy the lodge /hotel amenities with your evening at leisure. Later, have dinner and rest.

Today you will have a very early morning breakfast and head for an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth national Park in search for other wildlife. Alongside you will be able to spot some wildlife such as the elephants, buffaloes, water bucks, lions and numerous bird species. You will later return to the lodge and head for lunch before embarking on a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel which is known for having the largest number of hippos in the whole world. You will also be able to spot Nile crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, kobs drinking water along the lake side. You will later return to the lodge and have a relaxed evening till dinner time. Rest.

This is yet another great primate’s experience in Queen Elizabeth national park. After morning healthy breakfast, prepare for chimpanzee trekking experience in the famous gorge. Chimpanzee trekking is available all year round, different visitors enjoy it here. The Kyambura gorge is vast hence attracting other mammals and small primates like the red-tailed monkeys, colobus and vervet monkeys. Baboons also enjoy the life of plenty at the gorge and will be seen on site. Birds and other forest creatures such as elephants, leopards, and buffaloes are all part of this wonderful underground forest. Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another looking for food especially in drier seasons. Once you met them, you stay with them for a full hour then return to the lodge. Refresh and check out with a transfer back to Kigali - Rwanda. Get through Ishasha sector the southern part of the park with game drives and a chance to see tree climbing lions in big numbers (if you are so lucky). Your lunch will be served along the way as you embark on the journey back to Rwanda. Prepare for a long drive with the beautiful country sides, great hills and valleys plus many locals along the way on their daily activities heading to Kigali. Cross via Cyanika border and continue to the Kigali city. Arrival with some souvenir shopping in nearby craft shops or city malls. Depending on your flight details, you will be taken to the Kigali International Airport for your outbound flight back home OR drop you off to your pre-booked hotel and check in. End.
